We at Video Party don’t care much for labels or genre divisions, which is why we accept all kinds of work. If it can be projected with sound, and you’re proud of it, then it’s worth submitting. Our goal is to provide a supportive environment for young and emerging artists to present their work to a culturally savvy audience.

Film and video content is selected by theme, according to each event. Videos should be under 10 minutes, but we occasionally make exceptions. Installation proposals are also welcome.

Send in your work on MiniDV or DVD.
Please clearly label your work & provide contact information.
Please indicate the length of your work directly on the tape or disc.

Video Party is now accepting submissions for our next round of events:

Bike-In-Progress
In late-August / early-September, we’ll be hosting a bike-in film screening at The St-Ambroise terrace on the Lachine Canal bike path. The theme for this screening will be “work in progress” (AKA “please don’t show this to anyone”) and it will be a chance for filmmakers to show their rough-cuts and incomplete projects, while receiving feedback from other film-enthusiasts. If you’ve got a movie that you’re still working on or that you’ve given up on entirely, then please contact us about screening your work.

The Traveler
Going out of town this summer? Pack your camera and share your experience with the Video Party community. We’re looking for shorts (Doc, drama and animation) that capture the essence of a town, country or travel experience. If you’ve already finished a video like this, just burn it on a DVD and mail it to our Montreal office.

Consume
Some time down the road we’ll be hosting an event that questions our consumer society. If you’ve got a short that relates to excessive consumption (whether it glorifies or horrifies) we want to see your work.

These are just some of the events that we have in the works. If you have a film or video that does not relate to these themes you can still submit for a future event.
